Birth Control - Live (1974)

::

"A truly masterpiece of music (of course, no prog here). It´s such a big surprise for me to see that all the reviews in PA of this album make it look so unappealing. Tastes are tastes, naturaly, nevetherless i don´t think any one into 70´s music can be disappoited with this treasoure.
All the set-list consists of BC classics (except Long Tall Sally), and every song is very extended - this a double live album with just 5 tracks- always in a interesting way, full of amazing solos ( unbeliavable hammond solos!), great vocals and musicianship at the highest level." - Semente-ProgArchives

Birth Control - Hoodoo Man (1972)

::

"Although a bit simpled structured, the songs are verty varied and convey the very essence of the true progressive rock, which means, to me heavy rock Hammond stabbing (Gamma Ray, Hoodoo Man), powerful rhythms (Get Downh to your Fate), and yet beautyful and almost "dancing" solos (Suicide). The organ's sound is great, and the fact that is not followed in strength by the sometimes annoying guitar makes me think that this band could be a great ELP-like powertrio. Buy without thinking twice!" - heltonbiker-ProgArchives

Birth Control - Plastic People (1975)

::

"The band’s first explicit foray into progressive rock—you knew this was a far cry from REBIRTH the second you heard those weird, percussive synth sounds at the start of “Plastic People”. Musically, this is spectacular stuff, with intricate Hammond and Moog work on “Plastic People”, some of Bruno Frenzel’s most spectacular guitarwork on “Tiny Flashlights” (which also contains incidental cameo appearances by Morgan Fisher and Eddie Jobson!), impressive Gentle Giant-isms on “My Mind” and more subtle, textural explorations on “Trial Trip”. They even have time for an old-style out-and-out rocker (albeit with proggy synth-leads) on “Rockin’ Rollin’ Roller” and close things out with a brassy Chicago sound-alike, “This Song Is Just For You”..." - Progbear-ProgArchives

Birth Control - Birth Control (1970)

::

"Birth Control is a German Krautrock band known for their progressive hard-rock sound and provocative album covers.
Birth Control formed in the middle of 1968 in Berlin from two other bands, the Earls and the Gents. The initial members were: Bernd Koschmidder (bass), Reinhold Sobotta (organ), Rolf Gurra (saxophone and vocals), Fritz Groeger (vocals), Klaus Orso (guitar), Reiner Borchert (guitar), and Hugo Egon Balder (percussion).
The name of the band was a response to Pope Paul VI's declaration that contraceptives were sinful." - Wikipedia

Birth Control - Rebirth (1973)

::

"Together with "Hoodoo Man" this album marks the peak in the career of the german Krautrock-pioneers BirthControl. THIS IS HIGH-CLASS-PROGRESSIVE ROCK, without any filler on the album. Each track has specific characteristics: First of all, we have the organ-dominated opening number "She´s got nothing on you", that reminds me of Deep Purple, then the trumpet&trombone on "Mr. Hero", played by multiinstrumentalist Zeus B. Held, contributing to a fuller (jazz-oriented) sound. This jazzrock-style returns on "No Shade Is Real". The acoustic "Grandjeanville" and the Zeus B. Held "mini"-instrumental "M.P.C." give even more relief to REBIRTH, but with "Together Alone Tonight" we have not only reached the highlight of this album, but the finest piece of music by BirthControl -according to my opinion- even greater than "Gamma Ray". The closing number "Back To Hell" shows drummer Bernd Noske at its best, his drum solo decorated with well-placed synthie-effects."

Birth Control - Operation (1971)

::

"Operation" was BIRTH CONTROL's 2nd album and continued with their pattented hard-rock acid based style not unlike that of DEEP PURPLE. Musically, BIRTH CONTROL blend heavy guitar with heavy organ twirls, not unlike early SPOOKY TOOTH in many ways as well. Band lineup included Bernd "Nossi" Noske (drums, vocals) Bernd Koschmidder (bass) Bruno Frenzel (guitar, vocals) and Wolfgang Neuser (keyboards). Songs are genereally pretty heavy with songs like the harder edged anti-Vietnam war song "The Work is done". The second track "Just Beofre The Sun Will Rise" and the last track "Let Us Do It Now" are actually quite symphonic and show why BIRTH CONTROL were leaning in a more progressive vein than others at the time. A great album for sure and one of those albums with nice deep organ and some thundering rhythm. - Review by loserboy (ProgArchvies)
